Located in one of the UK's oldest border settlements, there is a longstanding history of markets within our beautiful market town with the first recorded market formed some 800 years ago. Our vibrant indoor market continues to be held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and here you will find a collection of bespoke businesses selling everything from fresh cakes and bread to antiques and gifts. We also have a number of interesting food outlets where you can sit and enjoy the market atmosphere.
Our outdoor street market can be enjoyed every Wednesday and Saturday which includes a number of quality plant sellers and food producers. As well as our many market events we also hold a monthly Artisan market held on the last Friday of each month, where you will find quality fresh produce from around the County. The best thing about the markets is that there's something for everybody to enjoy and are vastly different from the stale and routine trip to the local supermarket; we are sure you won’t be disappointed.
Oswestry itself boasts a number of independent and specialist retailers and coffee shops, and better yet, the area also features a number of historic pubs offering great food and drinks, perfect for a long day of shopping. We also have a beautiful award winning park, are the birth home of the famous war poet Wilfred Owen and boast a number of free galleries and town museum. The Cambrian railway also operates its steam train most weekends during the summer.
